A great New Year’s Eve treat. That’s how I regard this senryu special issue of Blo͞o Outlier Journal, Winter 2022, edited by Alan Summers and Pippa Philips.
The poetry, ranging across a wide spectrum of human experience and emotion, is riveting. And the long features, Alan’s ‘The O of Senryū’ and Pippa’s ‘Thoughts about Senryu’ are fascinating, revealing how there is so much more to the form than generally realised.
Thank you Alan and Pippa for this brilliant issue, which I shall be dipping back into again and again through the New Year.

Dear Alan I am thrilled to be included in this wonderful senryu special Winter 2022 Blo͞o Outlier Journal, thank you very much.
I have been reading and reading this amazing journal for a lot of today there is so much to enjoy and to learn.
I loved reading, Alan Summers’ Selection, Pippa Phillips Selection, then the Independently Jointly Selected Senryu.
I shall indeed with a lot of pleasure be going back to read and reread this wonderful journal.
